About
Burnley Mountaineering and Fellwalking Club was formed in 1952 as the Burnley Municipal College Mountaineering Club. It has been the mainstay of fellwalkers in North East Lancashire ever since, celebrating our 60th Anniversary in 2012. We welcome anybody who is interested in the outdoors to join; whether your interest is in rambling and low-level walking, fellwalking, climbing, photography or bird watching. All age groups and abilities are welcome, as are both families and individuals.
Our primary events are the monthly Coach Meets, usually on the second or third weekend of each month. These usually visit the Lake District although two or three times a year we venture to other areas such as the Yorkshire Dales, North Wales, Derbyshire and occasionally the Scottish Borders. Our coaches have pickup points in Padiham, Burnley, Brierfield, Nelson, Colne, Barrowford, Barnoldswick, Gisburn and several places in between.
The coach meets are supplemented by Hut Weekends, local walks and Rock Climbing Evenings in addition to Map Reading Events. With photography being an important facet of many members trips we also have occasional slide evenings. We have a full social programme with Pub Meets, Discos, dances and produce a monthly newsletter that gives details of forthcoming events and activities as well as a considerable number of articles submitted by members.
If you would like more information or have any questions please do not hesitate to contact any of our committee or if you would like to book on any of our meets please contact our Booking Secretary, Catherine Jackson.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
